Yes there are two free versions of Figma:

Starter plan

The Starter plan is designed for individual and very small teams to get started with Figma. You get unlimited files in the Drafts space, which you can share with unlimited viewers. Additionally, you can co-edit with unlimited users on up to 3 files (limit of 3 pages per file).

Education

If you are a student or educator, you may qualify for a Figma Education plan. There are specific criteria you must meet to qualify and you can apply here. Education teams allow you to access all the functionality of our Professional team for free in addition to access to community groups and classroom resources.

Education accounts are valid for two years for K-12 and Higher education, and 6 months for bootcamps. If you are still a student or educator at the end of the two years, you can reapply for Education status. Learn more about Figma for Education.

No, you cannot buy Figma Design on its own. Figma Design is included in the Full seat, alongside Dev Mode, FigJam and Figma Slides.

Our seats are designed to support different user workflows. FigJam and Figma Slides are included in every seat to better support the end to end product development process.

Yes! You can create a team with 3 files for free and collaborate with unlimited users. You also can share any files in your personal draft space with as many viewers as you want.

Figma AI uses a credit system that is shared across all Figma AI features and products. Every seat in Figma includes a monthly allotment of AI credits. The number of credits and which features you can use them with depends on your plan and seat type.

Full seats include:

• 3,000 credits/month on the Professional plan
• 3,500 credits/month on the Organization plan
• 4,250 credits/month on the Enterprise plan

All other seats (Collab, Dev, and View) and users on the Starter plan receive 500 credits/month.

Seats give users access to Figma’s products, and are designed to support different user workflows. A user only needs one seat to access functionality across multiple products.

The Full seat includes full access to all Figma products, including Figma Design, Dev Mode, Figma Slides, and FigJam.

The Dev seat full access to Dev Mode, Figma Slides, and FigJam. It also gives users view and comment access in Figma Design files.

The Collab seat includes full access to Figma Slides and FigJam. It also gives users view and comment access in Figma Design files. It does not include access to Dev Mode; basic inspection only.

The View seat is a free seat that gives users view and comment access to Figma Design, Figma Slides, and FigJam. It does not include access to Dev Mode; basic inspection only.

The Full seat includes full access to all Figma products, including Figma Design, Dev Mode, Figma Slides, FigJam, and Figma Sites.

The Dev seat full access to Dev Mode, Figma Slides, and FigJam. It also gives users view and comment access in Figma Design files.

The Collab seat includes full access to Figma Slides and FigJam. It also gives users view and comment access in Figma Design files. It does not include access to Dev Mode; basic inspection only.

Anyone with a free View seat can view or comment on files they’ve been given access to. They can also export files and access redlines on a file.

Team owners and admins can manage billing on the Professional plan. Organization admins can manage billing on the Organization plan.

On the Professional plan, you can have as many team admins as you need. Any existing team admin can give other team members admin access.

On the Organization plan, organization admins are members with extra administrative rights and can upgrade other team members to be an organization admin.

You can manage seats from the Admin Dashboard in product.

If you add new paid seats to your team during your annual subscription term, Figma charges you a separate monthly subscription for those seats at the monthly price.

Once an admin approves a new seat, it will be automatically added to your next monthly invoice. The cost of the seat will be prorated based on the day it was approved until the end of your current monthly billing term.

You will continue to get monthly invoices for newly added seats unless you proactively add those seats to your annual subscription or remove the seats.

Organization admins need to approve new seats that incur costs. By default, approved seats are included in your next invoice with prorated pricing, based on the date they were approved until the end of the annual subscription term.

You will get quarterly invoices every 3, 6, and 9 months of your annual subscription term.

You can easily pay online via major credit cards, debit card, or SEPA direct debits.

Invoicing options may be possible on the Organization plan.

Payments for Figma subscriptions are non-refundable.

With that said, if for any reason you’re unhappy with Figma, please let us know. Contact us inside the app, or email support@figma.com, give us a detailed account of what happened, and we’ll work with you to make sure you have the best experience possible.

Your annual and monthly Figma Professional plans will automatically renew until you cancel them. You can cancel your Figma Professional plan at any time by clicking ‘Downgrade to a Starter Team’ from the Admin Dashboard. Bear in mind that this will restrict your team to 3 collaborative files, and your team will lose access to paid features like the team component library and unlimited version history at the end of your pay period.

You will be notified 30 days before your Figma Professional annual plan is set to renew. At this time, you can change the number of seats on your annual plan for the next year; otherwise, it will renew for the same number of seats again. You could also choose not to renew your annual plan, in which case all of your full seats would be paid monthly.

If you have signed an order form with Figma, your cancellation terms are set forth in your order form.

Dev Mode is a new space in Figma to improve design handoff. Compared to our standard inspect experience, Dev Mode offers additional features to improve collaboration across teams, drive design system adoption, and speed up implementation. To use Dev Mode, go into Figma and turn on the green toggle in the top right hand corner of the Figma browser.

No—you will still be able to collaborate and access inspect information as a free viewer. Viewers can and will still be able to access and interact with design files from view-only design mode where they can view measurements and property values, copy CSS, iOS, and Android code, export assets and comment on files and collaborate via cursor chat. Yes! Students and educators are eligible for our Education plan. You can verify your education status by visiting this page and filling out the verification form. We will review your application and get back to you as soon as possible.

Students and educators in online or in-person classes and educational programs are eligible for an Education plan.

Some examples are:

• high schools, universities, post-graduate institutions, trade schools, polytechnics, or colleges
• online courses
• bootcamps or workshops
• design and coding academies

Figma does not provide free Education teams for:

• Early stage Startups
• "Not-for-profit" or"non-profit" organizations
• Self-directed education
• Educational programs affiliated with organizations whose primary purpose is non-educational

We do not have any discounts for non-profits. Anyone is welcome to use Figma’s free plan.

The agent is free to use during the beta. AI credits are not consumed for any prompts or actions. This allows you to explore and experiment without worrying about credit usage. Once the AI agent becomes generally available, standard AI credit usage will apply.

Using Figma Make to ship directly into your team's codebase is free to use during beta. AI credits are not consumed for any prompts or actions. This allows you to explore and experiment without worrying about credit usage. Once the AI agent becomes generally available, standard AI credit usage will apply.

Yes, you can animate elements using the timeline, create motion variables and components, then export and hand off to dev. Publishing motion systems, agent-assisted motion, and high-resolution video exports will not be available to Starter plans.

There are no limits on published websites.

During beta, custom domains, bandwidth, and storage are free of charge through 2025. Organization and Enterprise plans can connect as many custom domains needed, and Professional plans can connect 10 custom domains. Custom domain limits are subject to change after 2025.

We do not support purchasing additional bandwidth or storage at this time, but we are offering higher limits on bandwidth and storage free of charge through 2025.

You can purchase additional bandwidth or storage in early 2026.

If you are an Organization or Enterprise admin, you will see a toggle in settings to turn website and app publishing on or off. See more details here.
